Australia Textile Tour 2025

This fibre art piece is a reflection of my journey around Australia with Kim Caskey Textile Tours. We travelled for almost three weeks, starting in Melbourne, shifting over to Sydney and concluding with four days in the desert at Uluru (my favourite part). Our guest teacher, Pam Holland, worked with all of us to build a travel quilt that would showcase our collection of memories and mementos gathered along the way. The collecting was an important process for me; I always collect when I travel… a rock from a path, a leaf from a garden, or perhaps a button or thread from a shop. All become markers of time and place. The travel piece was perfect for gathering my thoughts and documenting the trip visually. Upon completion, I have both the memory of collecting and the memory of place all stitched up in one treasured keepsake. A special thank you to Kim Caskey for including me on the tour and to everyone for sharing my journey in so many special ways.
